Gum Disease, affecting tissues around teeth roots, is highly prevalent, impacting nearly 90% of the population and ranking as a leading cause of adult tooth loss in developed countries. It's a stealthy disease, often unnoticed until later stages, emphasizing the need for comprehensive examinations.
Here is a self-access test for you..
Do you have
- Swollen or bleeding gums?
- Bad breath?
- Spaces between teeth?
- Gums pulling downward?
- Vague pain, shifting, or loosening of teeth?
- Foul taste or itchy gums?
If you answer YES, you may have gum disease. Confirm with a full mouth X-ray (OPG), comparing healthy bone levels (triangular projections) to potential disease (loss of projections, black triangles). Severe gum disease is indicated by larger black triangles and bone loss.
If you detect these changes on your OPG x-ray along with any or more of the above said symptoms you are likely to be suffering from Gum disease. Seek professional help to diagnose and treat the condition.
Solution: Various gum treatment procedures like Flap surgery, sub gingival scaling, root planning etc are done in our clinic.
